Background
Meridian Water is a large regeneration and infrastructure programme in Enfield. It is also the live deployment that the CAD to GIS automation was built for, so the project and the tool developed alongside each other.
What I built
GIS asset delivery. Updated as-built CAD data supplied by the project team through Aconex is processed and pushed into the project web map, which stays current for asset verification and progress tracking. Asset locations and attributes are verified, missing assets added or removed, and PAH geometry created as polygons defined by design and landscape areas in line with client standards.
CAD layer verification. Layers supplied by the project team through Aconex are checked against required standards before ingestion.
Information management. Monthly audits run across all documents and TIDPs in the Aconex document register, alongside workflow improvements for the information management team.
Outcome
The web map is the reference the wider team uses for asset verification. Document register quality is maintained by scheduled audit rather than spot checks. Digital delivery on this project contributed to TAYWOOD Engineering winning Digital Construction Team of the Year at the London Construction Awards 2025.
Where it goes next
Ongoing. The intended next step on the automation side is API integration with the CDE so asset updates run on a schedule rather than being triggered manually.
